FIT is a Canada wide program for Grades 11 and 12 students. It is designed to prepare students for a world that runs on computers. The FIT program provides high school graduates with technology and business/entrepreneurial skills and with essential workplace skills and IT related work experience.
The FIT program focuses on developing:
1. Employability/essential skills
2. Business/entrepreneurship aptitude
3. PC Maintenance Skills
4. Technical proficiency
How Does FIT look for Students:
Students can approach the FIT Program in five different ways:
1. FIT Core Courses: The student will take only the core course. The courses available are Tech Support 110, Business Communications 110, Business Organization and Management 120 and Career Explorations 110.
2. FIT Work Experience: The student will take one or more of the courses listed above plus a work term in one of the areas through volunteer, paid or Co-op work term
3. FIT Industry: The student will take one or more of the courses listed above plus write one Industry Certification (ie: A+, IT Essentials, Network+, CCNA, JAVA or other approved ICT industry standard)
4. FIT Industry Work Experience: The student will do FIT Industry as well as a work term in one of the areas through volunteer, paid or Co-op work term.
5. FIT Plus: The student will do FIT Work Experience plus above plus write two or more Industry Certification (ie: A+, IT Essentials, Network+, CCNA, JAVA or other approved ICT industry standard)
